DSB is still waiting on the Talgo rakes

Danske Statsbaner is to receive 16 fifteen-car Talgo NMUs ordered in February 2020 and April 2023, each contract for eight rakes. Despite the Talgo 230 designation, these sets have a maximum permitted speed of 200 km/h. They will be hauled by DSB Vectrons, they are planned for the København - Hamburg and Aarhus - Hamburg branches, and in the future possibly for other international and domestic lines. The first eight EC 04xy sets were to be delivered in 2024 and the second eight in the years 2026 - 27, including 16 driving trailers.

While at the beginning of last year, DSB described our doubts about the start of operation in 2024 as speculation - see here, and last summer, when the dates were shifted, DSB planned to enter service with the first three units on 1 May 2025, the other three on 2 June and the last two from the first batch on 16 June 2025, these dates are now also outdated. The current plan is to deploy them on the København - Hamburg route from this year and on the Aarhus - Hamburg route from 2027. The next few months will show to what extent at least the first point will be met.
