EffiShunters For PKP IC

posted on 16th Feb 2021 21:32

On 16 February 2021, CZ LOKO announced that it had signed a contract in an administratively very demanding tender from 2020 for the supply of 10 diesel shunters for PKP IC. The operator will receive two-axle Type EffiShunter 300 locomotives, the first of which is to be delivered in August 2022, the remainder by February 2023.

The locomotives will be equipped with a 328 kW CAT C13 engine, a Polish SHP ATP and, at the customer's request, also by loud eavesdropping from the driver's cab. PKP IC will use its new locomotives mainly for light shunting in depots and storage stations at Warszawa, Gdańsk, Wroclaw, Katowice and Kraków. This is CZ LOKO’s second contract for this type from Poland. In 2019, locomotive 794.014 was delivered to Metro Warszawskie.

Roman Stříž, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CZ LOKO Polska subsidiary, said: „Poland is a market with great prospects for us. The local economy is the largest in Central Europe and has grown significantly in recent years. The locomotive fleet is undergoing a major renovation and will develop dynamically. We see great chances for our four-axle EffiShunter 1000 and new DualShunter 2000 locomotives. But we are also aware of strong domestic competition and we do not oppose any cooperation with local companies.“
