ZSSK is putting into operation Vectrons from the latest order from the Rolling Stock Lease (RSL) pool, and these are the first Vectrons from the RSL order placed with Siemens in September 2024.
On 4 September 2024, ZSSK announced a tender to lease 15 locomotives for ten years, including maintenance, with an option to lease another 15 ones, and on 15 October, the bid from RSL was chosen. The entire batch is to be delivered gradually by the end of 2026, but the first five machines were leased to ZSSK at the end of 2024. However, these came from an earlier RSL order, are provided temporarily, and RSL will later replace them with locomotives from the September 2024 order. ZSSK will now be leased locomotives from last year's RSL order, and the operator introduced the first of them on 8 July 2025.
The five Vectrons delivered this year will be equipped with vinyls showing the distinctive Slovak peaks. The first one, 7193 131, is Kriváň, followed by Lomnický štít, Gerlachovský štít, Vršatec and Veľký Rozsutec. The graphic design was created by THIS IS LOCCO studio in cooperation with ZSSK and continues the campaign line that supports the brand "We keep Slovakia moving".
