Modula locomotives at Velim

At present, two pre-series Modula hybrid locomotives produced by Vossloh Rolling Stock are tested at the VUZ Velim test centre. On 20 June 2025, arrived blue 1120 003, the EBB version, which is an electric locomotive fed from a catenary and fitted two battery blocks. On 30 June another Modula appeared at Velim, this time the black 1120 001. It is the same machine that was exhibited at InnoTrans 2024 and is intended for Rail Force One. For which customer is destined the locomotive 1120 003, which has an Austrian registration and is managed directly by CRRC, is not known.

The locomotives undergo there selected type tests, conducted by the VUZ laboratory, and are also used for personnel training. Authorisation for the first countries was originally supposed to be achieved in 2024.
