ComfortJets start running to Austria

On 20 October 2025, České dráhy, in cooperation with ÖBB, began deploying ComfortJet non-traction units on one pair of „Vindobona” services on the Praha - Wien - Graz line, namely rj 73/370. From the start of the 2026 timetable, ComfortJets will provide services from Praha to Klagenfurt and Villach, running three times a day, using the new Koralmbahn high-speed line, where they will run at a top speed of 230 km/h and also pass through the 33 km long Koralmtunnel, the fourth longest railway tunnel in Europe.

Departures from Praha hl. n. will be at 06.37 and 14.37 h, the third train will connect Berlin, Praha, Wien and Villach and will stop in Praha at 10.36 h at the Praha-Holešovice station. The journey from the Czech capital to Villach will take approximately 8 hours.

At the latest from the upcoming December timetable change, ComfortJets will also be deployed on the „Hungaria” services from Germany to Budapest. Railjets released from services to Austria will also be used on the „Metropolitan” line, which connects Praha, Bratislava and Budapest.
