Deliveries of newest FLIRT EMUs for Koleje Mazowieckie are progressing rapidly: since the beginning of May, the operator has already received 23 ones. The first nine Class ER160 FLIRTs have been officially accepted by Koleje Mazowieckie on 5 May 2026, marking the beginning of the implementation of contracts concluded in 2024 - 2025, covering a total of 75 vehicles. After obtaining the required approvals for passenger operation, the nine trains underwent test runs witout passengers, known as monitored test operations. Their successful completion enabled the handover of the vehicles to the operator.
During a press conference at Warszawa Główna on 25 May 2026, the two latest units delivered under the first implementation agreement for Koleje Mazowieckie were presented. The new FLIRTs are already operating on selected routes, with additional units soon to be introduced into regional service.
All KM's FLIRTs are being built at the Stadler Polska plant in Siedlce, which in previous years has already delivered 71 FLIRTs to Koleje Mazowieckie. The current contracts are record-breaking, both in terms of the number of vehicles and the pace of production. Production of the remaining vehicles is ongoing. By the end of this year, 53 new trains are scheduled to be delivered, thus Koleje Mazowieckie’s fleet will exceed 120 FLIRTs.
Radosław Banach, CEO of Stadler Polska, emphasized: “Delivering a project of this scale within such a short timeframe requires excellent cooperation between the teams involved on both sides. Every week we hand over additional vehicles, while production of the next units is already underway. Since the beginning of May, we have delivered 23 new trains to Koleje Mazowieckie - a record pace made possible thanks to tremendous commitment and very good cooperation with the customer. I would like to thank Koleje Mazowieckie for their openness, efficient communication, and partnership approach in implementing this project.”
The 160 km/h five-car EMUs can carry up to 582 passengers, including 261 of seated. They feature spacious entrance areas, a high proportion of low-floor space, and full accessibility for passengers with disabilities, travelers with strollers, and cyclists. The trains are equipped with ETCS Level 2. The contract covers not only the delivery of the Class ER160 trains, but also their maintenance, staff training, and repair packages.
