Pilot ‘Rail Motorway’ test run to Badajoz

Working together with Tramesa, Transitalia and Medway, on 26 November 2025 Adif arranged for a commercial test run of a ‘Rail Motorway’ service, loaded with 4 m high semitrailers, between Madrid Abroñigal and Badajoz-Frontera. The objective was to ensure that the loadings were compatible both with the rail infrastructure en route and the logistics terminals at both ends, the conclusion being satisfactory. The intention is that this new service, once it starts up, will be operated as a connection with that between València and Madrid, with a view to prolongation into Portugal.
