On 11 June 2026, Alstom celebrated the production of the 500th train of its OMNEO Régio2N platform at its Crespin site in the Hauts-de-France region.
To date, 567 units have been ordered in ten of the 13 French regions, with a recent order for five additional trains from SNCF Voyageurs for Ile-de-France Mobilités and an order for four additional trains for the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.
To date, 567 trains based on the OMNEO Régio2N platform have been ordered by SNCF Voyageurs, including 442 Régio2N suburban and regional trains for the regions:
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (69)
Brittany (35)
Centre-Val de Loire (20)
Hauts-de-France (58)
Île-de-France (157)
Nouvelle-Aquitaine (30)
Occitanie (36)
Pays-de-la-Loire (19)
Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (18)
as well as 125 OMNEO Premium trains for the regions
Centre-Val de Loire (39)
Hauts-de-France (19)
Normandy (67)
To these 567 trains ordered by SNCF Voyageurs, it can be added 16 OMNEO Premium trains ordered by Transdev for the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region (for the Marseille - Toulon - Nice line). Once all 567 trains have been delivered, this batch will be one of the longest in recent French history.
The OMNEO Régio2N platform has been designed to meet the needs of passengers and transport authorities. It is available in several lengths, ranging from 81 m to 135 m, and in various configurations: suburban, regional and even Premium trains for intercity services. The trainsets are configurable to best suit regional needs: choice of colour schemes, first- and second-class layouts, the addition of bicycle or luggage storage areas, CCTV and on-board internet are all features that can be customised.
The architecture of the OMNEO Régio2N train (developed by Bombardier Transportation), comprising alternating single- and double-deck cars, combines capacity, accessibility and comfort, and adapts to the variety of routes and passengers’ needs. The single-deck cars make it easier for passengers, including those with reduced mobility, to board, thanks to level access and wide doors. Omneo Régio2N trains also feature a ‘boa’ layout, allowing passengers to move easily from one car to another.
The Alstom site in Crespin, in the Hauts-de-France region, has been responsible for the design, manufacture, assembly and certification of the OMNEO Régio2N trains since they entered service in 2014. Today, two-thirds of the Crespin site’s activity is dedicated to this project, which employs 450 team members at the Crespin site (and over 550 across France).
