ZEFIRO Express for SJ at Velim

In April 2022, SJ signed a contract with Alstom for the supply of 25 six-car ZEFIRO Express high-speed EMUs with an option for 15 more. The new units were given the project name Delta within SJ, they are designated Class X250.
Their deliveries were supposed to start in 2026 according to the contract, but this deadline will not be met and now it was announced that first units will not enter regular operation before December 2027. SJ stated as reason the "shortage of sea transports, flooding, shortage of material and other reasons." On 30 June 2026, one of X250s arrived at the VUZ Velim Test Centre.
