On 30 October 2023 TMH announced that the Class EGE2Tv Ivolga 4.0 prototype has successfully completed part of the tests at the Belorechenskaya test line (namely braking, performance and track impact tests) and arrived at the Shcherbinka circuit to complete the certification tests. These will include a 5,000 km fault-free test run, which be followed by traction and energy performance tests, EMC measurements and software testing. The tests are scheduled to be completed on 10 November, after which preparations will begin for the acceptance committee meeting and for awarding the certificate of conformity.
The Ivolga 4.0 represents a new step in the development of the TVZ-built EMUs with asynchronous traction equimpent. It is 97 % made of domestically produced components. Unlike previous models, the new version of the EGE2Tv also has three entrance doors instead of two on the interemediate cars.
