Modernized EP3D EMUs certified

In mid-December 2025, TMH completed the approval of the modernized Class EP3D, produced by DMZ. These 25 kV 50 HzEMUs have been built since 2016. The modernization consists in installing an ecological toilet in a non-powered intermediate car in six- or eight-car units in order to improve passenger comfort. Until now, only the end cars were equipped with toilets, including those for passengers in wheelchairs.
In October 2025, the EP3D train passed certification tests on the VNIIZhT test centre in Shcherbinka. In November, a meeting of the acceptance commission was held at the DMZ, after which the Class EP3D received a certificate of compliance with the requirements of TR TS 001/2011, which allows the DMZ to produce EP3D trains with a toilet in intermediate cars for five years. A similar solution was previously implemented in the Class EP2DM 3 kV DC EMUs.
