With the timetable change on 14 December 2025, ÖBB opened a new depot for regional and suburban cityjet trains east of Wien Floridsdorf station. This is an important component of the „S-Bahn Wien Upgrade“ modernization program, designed to accommodate the increasing number of passengers in the coming years.

The new facility at Floridsdorfer Frachtenbahnhof (Floridsdorf freight yard) is specifically designed to meet the requirements of the longer cityjet KISS EMUs, which will operate in in and around Wien and in Niederösterreich (Lower Austria) in the future. The ordered fleet of 109 KISSes consists of 20 Class 4736 six-car and 89 Class 4734 four-car units.

Initially it was announced that the KISSes (cityjet Doppelstock neu) will enter passenger service in December 2025, however Stadler has stated that "due to delays in the approval process, the new ÖBB cityjet KISSes will enter service in the summer of 2026. Production of the Class 4734s and 4736s from the first part of the framework contract order, which also includes vehicles destined for type testing, is currently underway. To date 20 Class 4736 units and 8 Class 4734 units have been built. Currently, there are 26 cityjet KISSes in Austria."

Construction of the new facility took approximately three years, from October 2022 to autumn 2025. By utilizing existing railway land, additional land use was avoided. Tracks with a total usable length of approximately 3,000 m, including overhead lines and signaling systems, service facilities for waste disposal and train cleaning, and an operations building were constructed. There is also a "Betriebstunnel" - a tunnel for employees, linking the two bases in Floridsdorf. Even before its official commissioning, the facility was used for personel training and acceptance testing of the KISSes.

By spring 2026, a modern maintenance hall for ÖBB Technische Services will also be built on the site. It will serve as the central service hub for trains in the greater Wien area.
