On 11 June 2026, Alstom and Ontrain have presented the first TRAXX Universal multi-system locomotive. Production is carried out under contracts signed by Alstom and OnTrain in 2024, covering a total of 40 locomotives, of which 35 will be approved for operation in Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, while five will be homologated for the Eastern Corridor, i. e. in Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. Alstom will also be responsible for the preventive maintenance of the TRAXXes purchased by OnTrain during the warranty period.
Piotr Ignasiak, CEO of OnTrain, said: "As a new entrant in the railway rolling stock leasing market, OnTrain relies on proven solutions such as TRAXX locomotives to compete effectively with the largest players in the sector. We have already tested four of the five TRAXXes ordered in December 2024, which proved their technical quality during trials and confirmed that choosing this platform was the right decision. We hope that soon our customers will also be able to experience the advantages of TRAXX locomotives and appreciate once again how reliable they are as a partner in day-to-day operations.”
