Siemens continues with deliveries to Egypt

As part of the megacontract for Egyptian Railways, Siemens is gradually delivering individual vehicles. In November 2025, the Velaro EGY 8001 was unveiled in Egypt (tests with the Velaro EGY were also conducted in Europe). Also in November 2025, the Desiro HC unit began operations in Egypt.
The first Vectron has arrived in Egypt on 24 March 2026, the first locomotive being 1192 001. Then it was sent to the New Capital Service point east of Cairo, the test runs with the first Vectron are expected to start in summer.
