ZSSK ordered more KISSes

On 30 April 2025, ZSSK signed a contract with Stadler for the delivery of up to four six-car 160 km/h KISSes for the Bratislava - Žilina line. The operator announced the tender in early this year.

Now, two units have been ordered, the first of which should be put into service in 2026 and the second one in 2027. Their production will take place at Stadler Siedlce, where the trains of the already operating Class 561 were also built. If the option is confirmed, the total value of the project would exceed 100 million EUR. 

ZSSK is already deploying KISSes on the lines Bratislava - Nové Zámky and Bratislava - Trenčín/Púchov. The Bratislava - Žilina line is one of the busiest in Slovakia and is expected to see a 6 % increase in passenger numbers by 2030, mainly due to the growth in the population of Bratislava.
