On 22 October 2021, ZSSK took over the last of a batch of 25 Panter EMUs produced by a Škoda Transportation - ŽOS Trnava consortium.

On 9 September 2021, ZSSK signed a contract with a consortium of Škoda Transportation and ŽOS Trnava for the purchase of nine four-car Panter EMUs with an option for 11 more.

Škoda Vagonka is currently welding the first bodyshells for the RegioPanter EMUs for Pasažieru vilciens.

Following an announcement in late October 2020, the Škoda Vagonka and Škoda Transportation consortium signed on 8 February 2021 a contract with Elron for the supply of six three-car Panter EMUs with an option for ten more.

On 21 December 2020, ZSSK had taken over eight other Panter EMUs.

On 11 December 2020, ČD ordered a batch of 48 RegioPanter EMUs from the Škoda Transportation/Škoda Vagonka consortium.

On 1 December 2020, first Class 661 RegioPanter entered regular passenger service with ZSSK.

On 13 November 2020, ČD signed a framework agreement with the Škoda Transportation/Škoda Vagonka consortium for the delivery of up to 60 RegioPanter EMUs.

Following testing in early June, when EMU 660.002 for ZSSK was hauled dead by a ČD Class 380 locomotive, the new Slovak RegioPanter was able to start test runs on the SŽ network under its own power.

While the batch production of three-car Class 661 RegioPanters for ZSSK is in progress, the prototype four-car EMUs 660.001 and 002 are located at the VUZ Velim test centre and type and authorisation tests are being carried out with them.

Since late April, the end cars for the three-car ZSSK Class 661 RegioPanter EMUs are being transported from Škoda Plzeň to ŽOS Trnava.

On 12 February 2020 Pasažieru vilciens (PV) presented a future color design for its new Škoda Vagonka-built RegioPanter EMUs.

On 6 February ZSSK unveiled one of its future new RegioPanter EMUs, forming batch of 25 to be delivered starting in the summer of 2020.

On 20 December 2019 Škoda Transportation announced that it had been selected as the supplier of EMUs for Jihomoravský kraj (the South Moravian Region).
