At present the very first driving trailer from the batch of five three-car double-deck push-pull ČD trains for use in the Moravian-Silesian Region is nearing completion.
One of the orders now realised at the Škoda Vagonka works in Ostrava is a contract for five three-car double-deck push-pull rakes for ČD.
Following the transport of the first rake of Viaggio Comfort cars from a batch for ČD to the VUZ Velim test centre in late July, the tests were started there.
On 7 August 2020 ČD has announced an invitation to tender for delivery of up to 160 new DMUs.
On 26 July 2020, the first four of the 50 new Viaggio Comfort cars ordered by České dráhy from the Siemens-Škoda consortium were transported from ŠKODA VAGONKA of Ostrava to the VUZ Velim test center for authorisation tests.
On 3 July 2020 at Pardubice České dráhy presented a prototype of the modernisation of the Class Bymee carriage to the Class Bdmtee car.
On 2 July 2020 ČD presented the prototype of the future batch modernisation of Class 810 diesel railcars destined for the Moravian-Silesian Region (Moravskoslezský kraj, MSK).
Between 14 and 16 June, international passenger services from the Czech Republic in the directions to Austria and Germany were restored, this including the operation of railjet Praha - Wien - Graz services and “Berliner” Praha - Berlin - Hamburg (- Kiel) services. At the same time, this enabled start of one new direct Graz - Wien - Praha - Berlin railjet service.
In addition to the ČD Viaggio Comfort cars, six of which are now at various stages of final assembly, Škoda Vagonka also produces the first double deck cars for České dráhy.
On 3 June 2020, locomotives 193 289 and 193 294 underwent the approval runs required for the issuance of a permit to operate in Hungary. The other of the ten Vectrons, which ČD hires from ELL, have completed this already before leased to ČD in late 2017.
The first coaches from the ČD contract for 10 five-car non-traction units, which are manufactured in the Siemens-Škoda consortium, are already taking shape.
Following the start of regular PSO services in February 2020 on the Olomouc hl. n. - Senice na Hané - Drahanovice line, the former DB Regio’s GTW 2/6 DMUs are being tested by ČD on other lines in Olomoucký kraj (the Olomouc district).
On 30 April 2020, ex-DB Regio 646.009 DMU was transported from Germany to the Czech Republic.
At the end of April 2020, České dráhy signed an agreement with Siemens Mobility Čzech Republic for the purchase of the manufacturer’s testing Vectron, which is equipped with an ETCS Level 2 Baseline 3 on-board unit.
In the Moravian-Silesian Region, the first phase of a pilot project was recently completed, in which ČD, the Region, NanoZone and the Ostrava Health Institute are cooperating.
