On 1 November 2022, the contract for the retrofit of the on-board ETCS in 78 Class 163 and 363 locomotives of ČD Cargo was completed with a ceremonial act at Plzeň main station.
Less than a year after the start of construction, the new intermodal terminal built near Ostrava Airport welcomed the first trains in August 2022 and hosted the opening ceremony on 18 October.
On 31 January 2022, it was announced that Vectrons can run under ETCS supervision on selected sections of the Czech network.
On 10 December 2021, ERA issued a type approval for TRAXX MS3 locomotives in the version equipped for operation in Germany, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
Following conditions of test operation in the Czech Republic being fulfilled, remaining TRAXX MS3 locomotives ordered so far by Czech operators can be delivered, as they can use them at least within the country.
Conditions given by Drážní úřad for test operation of the very first TRAXX MS3 locomotives in revenue service, 388.001 and 002, were fulfilled recently.
On 12 June 2020, both first ČD Cargo TRAXX MS3 locomotives, which are present in the Czech Republic, moved from the VUZ Velim test centre to the Ústí nad Labem depot. Following all necessary paperwork being sorted out, the first run in the test regime took place on 23 June.
