On 28 February 2024 CARGOUNIT, the largest independent Polish locomotive leasing company, has signed agreements with Siemens Mobility for the purchase of 10 Smartron locomotives a up to 90 Vectron MS locomotives, of which 30 have been called up.

On 27 February 2024, Stadler and KiwiRail signed two locomotive contracts. The first one involves the delivery of nine SALi mainline locomotives, the second one includes the supply of 24 hybrid battery-diesel shunters.

PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL has started using one Dragon 2 (Type E6MST) locomotive. 

HS2’s London tunnels programme passed a major milestone as the third tunnel boring machine (TBM) being used as part of the project was launched on 25 February 2024.
